Although personal wedding websites have been around in some fashion since the early 2000s, in the past few years they’ve become a must for most engaged couples. They provide a place for the couple to share important details about their wedding without needing to mail them to every guest. Wedding websites are a great resource, but they can feel like another task on your plate in the wedding planning process. If you’re looking for guidance on what information to include on your wedding website - keep reading!

Save The Date Information

My first recommendation for your wedding website is that any information on your Save the Dates should be on the home page. That means your name, the date of the wedding, and the city where the wedding will take place in. If you have already shared the venue or time with your guests at this point, feel free to share that here as well. The home page should be the place where your guests can take a quick glance if they lose their save the date or invitation and can have the basics available to them.

Lodging & Transportation

The second most important part of your wedding website is lodging information. If you are booking a hotel block for your guests you should do so early in the process, and make sure you put all of that information on your wedding website. This is also a great spot to include any important transportation information - the best airport to fly into if you have long-distance guests, as well as the parking situation at the venue and if you are providing shuttles from the hotel.

Wedding Registry Links

Although it is still possible in most cases to create your registry at a store in-person, most couples create and share their wedding registries online. Your wedding website is a great place to share these links, especially if you are registered at more than one store. Online wedding registries also offer the ability to have the packages shipped directly to your house, saving you the hassle of transporting gifts on your wedding night.

Online RSVP

Online RSVP is a great service offered by most wedding website hosts. Not only does it make it easier for guests to RSVP, but it also prevents the chance of losing any RSVPs in the mail. Another great addition is that you can limit the number of guests each person can RSVP for, so you don’t have to worry about any sneaky +1s.

Frequently Asked Questions

Although not necessary, an FAQ is a great addition to a wedding website. In the weeks leading up to your wedding, the last thing you want to do is be answering the same questions over and over. An FAQ is a great place to compile all the most common questions your guests might have, whether that’s about the dress code, children, or how to handle dietary restrictions.

Other Great Ideas

One of the fun things about creating a wedding website is the ability to make it unique and reflective of you and your partner. You could include absolutely anything you wanted on your site, but some common additions we’ve seen are:

  • How We Met

  • Engagement Photos

  • Wedding Party Bios

  • Rehearsal Dinner RSVP

  • Rehearsal Details

Wedding websites are a great resource for guests and we definitely recommend that every couple make one. In addition to their usefulness, most wedding websites do not have an expiration, so your website can live as a digital time capsule for you to look back at! We hope this guide helped make the creation process easier.
