The First Look vs. A Full Wedding Planner

The First Look Wedding Planning

The First Look is a totally unique platform and the first of its kind, which we know comes with a lot of questions. We commonly get asked what the difference is between hiring a planner through our platform and just hiring a full wedding planner for your big day. So, we’ve broken everything down for you - from the different types of roles to why you might choose one over the other!

What Does a Wedding Planner Do?

A Wedding Planner helps guide couples through the entire wedding process from start to finish. If you plan to hire a wedding planner it should definitely be the first vendor on your list! They can provide vendor suggestions, help you make and stick to your budget, and make sure you’re not forgetting about any details along the way. They will also be your main channel of communication with all of your vendors and can attend important in-person meetings with you and your partner.

What Is The First Look?

The First Look offers short and affordable consultations with Wedding Planners on specific topics. For example, if you are stuck on how to put together a wedding budget, you can set a short 30-minute appointment with a planner who can sit down and talk to you about just that! There’s always the opportunity to book another appointment with the planner if another question comes up, but you aren’t locked into a long-term contract for the entire of your wedding planning process.

When Should I Choose The First Look?

The First Look is the perfect platform for couples who want to be hands-on with planning their wedding but still want to check in with a professional every once in a while. Our system allows you to stick to a tighter planning budget by only paying for exactly what you want! If you are already somewhat familiar with the wedding planning process this is a great option to help you check in when you need some questions answered, while still allowing you to build personal connections with all of your wedding vendors directly rather than communicating through just one.

What About a Day-Of Coordinator?

A common misconception in the wedding industry is that a Wedding Planner and a Day-Of Coordinator are the same things. A coordinator comes into your wedding planning much later than a full planner - roughly about 4 to 8 weeks before your wedding day. A coordinator plans out final logistics such as set up times with your vendors and organizes and runs your wedding rehearsal. They are present on the day of your wedding to put out any last-minute fires and make sure everything is running smoothly!

If you are looking for a Day-Of Coordinator for your wedding, we highly recommend setting up a Vendor Selection appointment with one of our Wedding Planners. They can recommend a wedding coordinator in your area that they’ve worked with before to make sure that your day goes as planned!
